PORTLAND, Ore. – In their final tuneup before playing for a chance to go to the NCAA tournament, the Portland State softball team will host Oregon State tomorrow in a non-conference game at 5 p.m.
The 2011 Pacific Coast Softball Conference Mountain Division champions, Portland State (31-16) is gearing up for the conference championship series this weekend. They host PCSC Coastal Division Champion, Loyola Marymount, Friday and Saturday in a best-of-three format to determine who will earn the PCSC's automatic bid into the NCAA tourney.
Portland State has won 18 of its last 19 games and has secured its second straight 30-win season and its fourth in the past six years.
Oregon State (18-25) enters Tuesday's contest having lost 12 straight. The Beavers did sweep PSU earlier this season on April 22, winning the opener in eight innings, 4-3, before taking the nightcap, 2-0.
OSU has won nine straight against the Vikings and leads the all-time series, 83-33-1. At Erv Lind, the Beavers hold a 33-14-1 advantage.
