PORTLAND, Ore. –
Portland State's seniors had themselves quite the Senior Day on Saturday at Erv Lind Stadium.

Brandi Campos, Nichole Latham, Susan Winningham and Arielle Wiser all had significant contributions in helping the Vikings sweep a doubleheader from visiting Weber State and also clinch their second straight Pacific Coast Softball Conference Mountain Division title.

The Vikings won both games via the eight-run rule, taking game one, 8-0 in five, and the second, 8-0 in six. At 14-4 in conference, the Vikings have wrapped up the division title and will host next weekend's PCSC Championship Series against the to-be-determined champion of the Coastal Division.

Every Portland State starter had at least one hit in the opener as the Vikings finished with 11 in all. Karmen Holladay led the way, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs.

Holladay ended the game in the fifth due to the eight-run rule when she belted a three-run home run. Lacey Holm led the inning off with a bloop single to right and with two outs Carly McEachran singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. Holladay then stepped to the plate and crushed a 1-1 pitch over both fences in left center.

The Vikings struck first when Holladay singled in Danielle Lynn in the bottom of the second and Campos brought in McEachran on a fielders choice.

Portland State then broke the game open with a three-run fourth. Holladay hit a one-out triple to deep right and scored on a base hit by Campos. Jenna Krogh and Wiser also drove in runs during the frame, giving PSU a 5-0 lead.

Campos finished the game with a pair of runs batted in, while Crysta Conn hit a triple. Latham upped her record to 15-8, working all five innings and striking out four while giving up just one hit.

Wiser had three hits in the second game to pace the Vikings' 12-hit attack. Winningham got her her first start of the season and responded with a 2-for-3 effort, which included a double.

Portland State scored solo runs in the first and second innings, then pushed its lead to 4-0 after three on McEachran's two-run triple to left center.

Conn's two-run homer to left field in the fifth put the Vikings up 6-0. The game ended one frame later after Wiser singled in a run and Sadie Lopez plated another runner on an infield single.

In the circle, Anna Bertrand earned her eighth straight win, improving to 13-8 after scattering three hits over six innings. The sophomore righty struck out seven.

After the game, PSU Head Coach Tobin Echo-Hawk praised the way her seniors stepped up on a day when they were honored in between games.

Latham's complete game one-hitter and Wiser's four hits in the two games highlighted the Vikings Senior Day. Campos had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs, while Winningham tallied the second multi-hit game of her career.

"Our seniors did exactly what they have been doing their entire careers. They came through for us," Echo-Hawk said. "They are exciting to watch. It was really special to have them all be successful on this day."

Portland State (29-16) has won 14 of its last 15 games and closes out its conference regular season schedule by hosting the Wildcats for two more contests tomorrow. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.

NOTES: Winnigham's other multi-hit game also came against Weber State last season ... Conn had two hits and drove in three runs in the second game ... McEachran's triple was her fifth of the year, tying her with Krogh for the team lead ... PSU hit three triples in the doubleheader and now has 18 on the season, the most since the 1997 team hit 21 ... with 214 RBIs, the Vikings are five short of tying their NCAA DI team record set in 2006 ... Conn and Holladay both hit their fourth home runs of the season ... PSU needs one more victory for its second straight 30-win season and its fourth in the past six years ... the Vikings will play either Loyola Marymount or San Diego next weekend. San Diego entered this weekend's four-game series at LMU needing to win two games to capture the Coastal Division. But, the Lions took game one from USD, 3-1, and were leading 2-1 through five innings as of when this article was posted ... Weber State fell to 12-36, 3-15 PCSC.
