FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - With only a single match this weekend, the Portland State women's tennis team went to Northern Arizona to take on the Lumberjacks. Though the Vikings were unable to clinch its second Big Sky win, PSU fought hard with NAU but fell 6-1.

At No. 3 doubles, senior Masha Los and junior Marti Pellicano sent their match to a tiebreaking set at a 7-7 deadlock. Their opponents, Aimee Oki and Alice Walker, would take the match in the tiebreaker, 7-2.

Pellicano also battled in singles, sending her match to three sets. After dropping her first set 7-5, she claimed the second with a 6-4 win. In the third, Pellicano fell to Yumi Hasegawa, 6-4.

Winning her 11th match of the season, the most at the No. 1 position in the Big Sky, and her fourth conference match, Yuki Sugiyama defeated Edit Suhajda in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. With three matches remaining in the Big Sky season, Sugiyama will look to finish 7-1 and finish atop the conference standings.

The Vikings return to action next weekend for a pair of Big Sky matches, hosting No. 50 Sacramento State and traveling to Eastern Washington April 16. The Sac State match begins at 1 p.m., at Club Green Meadows.
