Olivia Dean was named as assistant softball coach in the fall of 2023.

She joins the staff after a decorated career with the Vikings from 2021-2023. During her three-year career, she started 128 games at shortstop, compiling a .328 career batting average and a .940 career fielding percentage. She tallied 48 career stolen bases, setting a new DI-era program record. In her first season with the Vikings, Dean helped lead Portland State to its second-ever Big Sky Championship and its first NCAA Regional appearance since 2013.
 
The Chehalis, Wash. native was a three-time all-conference player, earning honorable mention in 2021 and a second-team nod in 2022. In 2023, she earned First Team All-Big Sky and All-Tournament Team recognition. During her final season, Dean ranked first on the team and third in the conference with a .353 batting average.

A three-time Academic All-Big Sky honoree and NFCA Scholar-Athlete, Dean graduated from Portland State in June 2023 with a degree in Business Administration: Management and Leadership. She was named Portland State’s Big Sky Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2022-23.

Prior to Portland State, Dean played two seasons at Centralia College where she was named an All-American in 2019. Before her collegiate career, she was a two-time state champion and four-time all-league selection at W.F. West High School.
