Vetu Mam

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Vetu Mam enters his sixth year as an assistant coach in the men’s tennis program during the 2018-19 academic year, after competing in the program during the 2010 and 2011 spring seasons.

Mam has been an assistant for two of the Vikings' best teams in program history in 2016 and 2018. Mam helped lead the 2016 Vikings to program records for overall wins (12), Big Sky wins (5) and overall win percentage (.571), only to have most of those records broken by the 2018 Vikings. The 2018 Vikings finished the season with the most overall wins (13), most Big Sky wins (6) and highest Big Sky finish (fifth), and made the Big Sky tournament for the first time ever under its current format.

Mam also helped coach Nathan Boniel to the best individual season in program history in 2016, after which Boniel became the Vikings' first-ever Big Sky MVP, as well as just the second All-Big Sky first-team selection in program history.

Mam went 7-9 in singles between both of his seasons within the Vikings’ program, including a 5-6 record at No. 6 singles. Mam also went 4-15 in doubles at Portland State, including a 4-13 record at No. 3 doubles.
