Kayla earned Big Sky Spring All-Academic Team and NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors … played in 36 games making 35 starts as catcher … hit .154 going 12-for-78 from the plate … drove in seven, hit one home run, and scored two runs … hit first home run of the season against No. 24 California (2/9) going 1-for-3 ... made first start of the season going 1-for-1 with a hit by pitch and a sacrifice while driving in two against New Mexico (2/8) ... made her first appearance of the season after missing all of 2013 with a knee injury against Indiana (2/7).
2013 (AS A REDSHIRT JUNIOR)
Redshirted the 2013 season due to a knee injury.
2012 (AS A SOPHOMORE)
Named to the PSCS Commissioner’s Honor Roll … played in 38 games, starting in 36, all at catcher … had three multi-hit games … scored 10 runs and drove in six … recorded three extra-base hits (two doubles and a home run) … finished the season hitting .195 … started all three NCAA Tournament games reaching base four times (hit, two walks, HBP) … went 2-for-3 with her only home run of the season and two runs scored at Oregon State (4/24) … went 3-for-11 with three RBIs and a run scored in a four-game series at Northern Colorado (4/14-15), had a hit and a RBI in three straight games … went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI at Utah Valley (3/31) … added a hit and a run scored against Sacramento State (2/26) … recorded first multi-hit game of the season going 2-for-2 with two runs scored against Long Beach State (2/19) … went 1-for-3 against Utah (2/18) with a double driving in one run.
2011 (AS A FRESHMAN)
Named to the PCSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll ... saw action in 25 games, making 12 starts ... made seven starts as the DP and five behind the dish ... had nine pinch hit opportunities ... picked up another pinch hit single vs. Weber State (5/7) … batted 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored at Colorado State (5/2) ... recorded a pinch hit single at Seattle (4/22) ... drove in another run in the second contest ... hit 2-for-3 in game one of a doubleheader the next day against the Bengals, including a double and a home run ... batted 2-for-6 in a doubleheader at Idaho State (4/16) ... hit her first career homer in a pinch hit opportunity against Utah Valley (4/10) ... had a pinch hit single against Cal Poly (2/20) ... registered her first career hit vs. San Jose State (2/12) ... made her Portland State debut against No. 16 BYU on Feb. 11, getting the start at catcher.
AT SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL
A second team All-CIF Southern Section and second team all-league catcher as a senior ... registered a .484 batting average, .565 on-base percentage and .989 slugging percentage as a senior ... also belted 11 home runs, seven doubles and three triples, while driving in 47 runs in 2010 ... recorded a .994 fielding percentage after committing just one error in 157 total chances in 2010 ... struck out just four times in 108 plate appearances as a senior ... named the San Dimas High Female Athlete of the Year as a senior ... earned the team MVP and Captain’s Award in her final season at SDHS ... hit .319 as a junior, to earn second team All-Valle Vista League honors as a first baseman ... played varsity ball every year for the Saints and was a three-time team captain ... as a freshman, earned first team all-league honors ... helped San Dimas to four straight Valle Vista league titles and to the CIF Section V playoffs every season ... in 2009, the Saints were Section V finalists ... played summer ball for the Filly’s Gold the past five summers
