Vikings Basketball Signs Luke Kearney For 2026-27 Season

Portland State Men's Basketball has signed Luke Kearney for the 2026-27 season as announced by Head Coach Jase Coburn.

Kearney is a 6-7 forward who played at Utah State this past season. He was a member of the basketball team at Air Force from 2023-25. Kearney will be a senior in the coming year.

"Luke will be an outstanding addition to our team," said Coburn. "He is coming from a championship program that had a lot of success. We are looking for him to bring those winning qualities to help us continue our winning ways here.

"Luke will bring a level of toughness and competitiveness that we will always look for. He has had individual success at the Division I level while at Air Force. Right out of the gate he provides us shooting and mismatch opportunities as a scorer."

Kearney averaged 1.7 points and 0.4 rebounds in 12 games at Utah State. While at Air Force, he started 22 of 32 games as a sophomore, averaging 8.9 points and 2.7 rebounds. He led the team with 52 three-point field goals and in free throw percentage at .839. As a freshman, Kearney averaged 4.0 points and 0.9 rebounds.

Originally from Phoenix, Kearney attended Bella Vista Prep, then played one season at USAFA Prep School.

Kearney is the seventh player to sign with Portland State and he joins a program that won the Big Sky Conference regular season championship in 2025-26 (20-11/13-5) and is led by Big Sky Coach of the Year Jase Coburn
