Vikings Fall Twice to Grand Canyon

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Portland State men's tennis dropped both matches of a doubleheader against Grand Canyon on Saturday at the GCU Tennis Complex.

The Vikings (4-8) and Lopes (15-2) played both matches to clinch, with GCU earning 4-0 victories in each.

Portland State kept things tight in doubles during the opening match. At No. 1, Edoardo Cravanzola and Maas Schotanus fell 6-4 to Daniel Jankoski and Brice Patoux, while Aarjun Pandit and Ignacio Ruiz dropped a 6-3 result to Tristan Berard and Andreas Loizas at line two. Luke Lu and Luca Prino were ahead 6-5 over Tim Hohmann and Charlie Pade on court three when the point was decided.

Both teams shuffled their doubles lineup in the second match, but Grand Canyon again secured the opening point. Lu and Prino once more held a lead in an unfinished match, this time up 5-4 over Jankoski and Patoux at line two.

GCU clinched both duals with three straight-set wins in singles play.

The Vikings return to Big Sky Conference action Sunday with a 10:00 a.m. PT / 11:00 a.m. MT matchup at Northern Arizona.
