Vikings Defeat LC State, 6–1

BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Portland State women's tennis team claimed its fourth win of the season Friday, defeating Lewis-Clark State 6-1 at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.

The Vikings (4-2) secured the doubles point over the Warriors (4-5) and won five of six singles courts to seal the victory, with the lone loss coming by retirement.

PSU continued its strong doubles play, sweeping all three courts to open the match. Scarlett Perkins and Anjola Ige started the run with a 6-1 win over Sonam Chuki Dorji and Ana Govea on court three. Kasumi Hirayama and Nene Uemura followed with a 6-2 victory over Rylie Gettmann and Rayana Shah at line two before Hana Abdelhamid and Marta Giglio closed out the sweep with a 6-2 win over Lulu Monnayoo and Naiara Montero on the top court.

The Vikings cruised to straight-set wins on five of six courts, surrendering one point due to retirement at line two. Giglio made quick work of Montero at the No. 3 spot, winning 6-0, 6-2. Abdelhamid (No. 5) and Hirayama (No. 4) rolled to 6-2, 6-1, and 6-2, 6-2 wins, respectively. Perkins defeated Monnayoo at No. 1, 6-3, 6-2, before Ige completed the victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6.

In their final dual before Big Sky Conference action, the Vikings will host Portland on Sunday, March 1, to close out the weekend. First serve is set for 10 a.m. at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
