Terri Miller Jr. Named Big Sky Conference Player Of The Week

Portland State's Terri Miller Jr. is redefining what "Miller Time" is all about at Portland State after being the latest Viking to be named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-8 senior forward has been a key player in the Vikings' perfect 7-0 start in league play. Last week, Miller averaged 25.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, had three steals and two blocked shots as Portland State won a pair of road games at Eastern Washington and Idaho. On Tuesday, the Big Sky Conference named Miller its Basketball Player of the Week.

More than just the stats is the timeliness of Miller's performances that earned him the honor. With the Vikings leading Eastern Washington by one put in the late-going on Thursday, Miller scored seven points with a blocked shot and an assist in the final 1:47 of the game, securing a 65-61 victory. Then, on Saturday at Idaho, with star teammate Jaylin Henderson on the bench in foul trouble in the second half, Miller scored 20 of his game-high 29 points to hold off the Vandals, 69-66.

Those performances echoed Miller's second-half heroics in a pair of earlier Big Sky road wins: 19 of 29 points in the second-half of an overtime win at Weber State (Jan. 1) and a tying three-pointer with three seconds left to send the game to overtime and a win at Idaho State (Jan. 3) – and 25 more points.

Miller, a native of Fresno, CA, currently leads the Big Sky in scoring at 19.6 points per game (22.3 in league games). He also ranks in the top eight in rebounds (6.4), assists (4.1) and field goal percentage (.542). He is the third Viking in four weeks to win BSC POTW honor (Henderson on Jan. 6, Tre-Vaughn Minott on Jan. 13).

Miller was a second-team All-Big Sky Conference selection last season and named Pre-season All-Big Sky this year.

The first-place Vikings, now 13-5 on the season, take their seven-game winning streak into a Thursday night contest with third-place Montana (12-9, 6-2) at Viking Pavilion. PSU will be shooting for a school-record 16th consecutive home win over Big Sky opponents. Tip-off is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at www.GoViks.com. The game can also be seen on ESPN+.

PSU hosts second-place Montana State (13-8, 7-1) on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at The Ship.
