ATLANTA — The ears of the Portland State women's basketball team must be burning because the Vikings earned special mention from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for the fourth straight season as the association released its Academic Top 25 Tuesday.
Â
The WBCA Academic Top 25 honors the 25 women's basketball teams with the highest GPAs by classification. Outside of those 25 schools, the association also awards special mention to any program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Â
The Vikings made the Academic Top 25 following the 2020-21 season – finishing tied for 12th with a 3.672 GPA that season – and have earned special mention each of the past four seasons. This year, the Vikings earned special mention with a 3.528 team GPA.
Â
The honor concludes a strong academic year for the Vikings, who earned at least a 3.40 GPA every term during the 2024-25 school year. Four Vikings earned a 4.0 GPA during winter term, while another three earned 4.0s in the spring.
