GREELEY, Colo. - The Portland State softball team dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader to Northern Colorado at Gloria Rodriguez Field, falling 11-2 in the opener before suffering a heartbreaking 8-7 loss in game two.
Saturday's games were rescheduled from Friday after snow postponed the original matchup. With the losses, the Vikings fell to 11-35 overall and 4-7 in Big Sky play, while the Bears improved to 14-17 and 5-6 in conference action.

The Bears struck first in the opening inning before Alison Harris tied the game in the second with an RBI single. UNC responded with four runs in the bottom half and added another in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead. A sacrifice fly from Natalia Martinez cut into the deficit in the fifth, but the Bears pulled away with a five-run frame, capped by a two-run homer to end the game in five innings.
Game two saw the Vikings take early control, blanking the Bears through five innings while building a 5-0 lead. Ellie Babbitt and Alapese Matautia each delivered RBIs in the second, followed by a solo shot from Sherreigh Nakoa-Chung and an RBI knock from Jade Henry in the third. Grace Johnson extended the lead to 6-0 with a run-scoring single in the fourth.
Northern Colorado responded with five runs in the fifth to get back within one. Nakoa-Chung added another RBI in the sixth, giving the Vikings a 7-5 cushion, but the Bears rallied late, walking it off with a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to secure the sweep.
Babbitt led the way with three hits in game two, while Harris had a team-high two hits in the opener. Gracie Walters and Grace Kimball were tagged with the losses in the circle.
