BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Portland State women's tennis team fell to Montana State 7-0 on Friday at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Vikings dropped to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in Big Sky play, while the Bobcats improved to 7-6 and 1-1 in conference action.
Portland State made adjustments to their doubles lineup, keeping the same pairs from previous matches but moving Scarlett Perkins and Hana Abdelhamid to the third spot, while freshmen Ayra Salim and Kasumi Hirayama played at line two. Unfortunately, the change didn't give the Vikings the boost they needed, as Montana State took a 1-0 lead after winning 6-0 at line one and 6-4 at line three.
The Bobcats continued their success in singles play, winning in straight sets on five of the six courts and claiming the other win due to opponent retirement.
The Vikings will look to bounce back this weekend when they travel to Missoula, Mont., to face Montana on Sunday, Marcg 16 in a 9:30 a.m. PT / 10:30 a.m. MT matchup to close out their road trip.
