Megan Wagenaar will do just that this week as she competes at the 2024 Bell Track & Field Trials in Montreal.

The Bell Track & Field Trials serve as the selection trials for Canada for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Wagenaar will compete against her fellow Canucks in the women's 800 and 1,500 meters.

Qualifying rounds for the women's 800 meters will run at 1:14 p.m. PT / 4:14 p.m. ET Thursday. Should Wagenaar advance, she'll run in the semifinals Friday at 4:14 p.m. PT / 7:14 p.m. ET, then the final Saturday at 7:01 p.m. PT / 10:01 p.m. ET.

Wagenaar's journey in the 1,500 meters will start with the qualifying rounds Friday at 7:50 a.m. PT / 10:50 a.m. ET. Should she advance, she'll run the semifinals at 4:18 p.m. PT / 7:18 p.m. ET Saturday, then the final at 9:06 a.m. PT / 12:06 p.m. ET Sunday.

Wagenaar is a veteran of the Bell Track & Field Trials, having competed at the Canadian Outdoor Championships in various events in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023. Her best individual finish at the meet came in 2022 when she placed 10th in the steeplechase.

This season, while also coaching the Vikings, Wagenaar debuted at the OSU High Performance Meet, running the 800 meters in 2:10.61. She ran her first 1,500-meter race of the season at the Oregon Twilight on May 3, while she set her seasonal best in the event at 4:24.26 at the Harry Jerome Track Classic on June 15.

Wagenaar served her first year as the lead assistant coach for the Portland State cross country and track & field programs this past season.
