EUGENE, Ore. — The Hayward Field bump has already served a couple of Portland State track & field athletes this weekend.
Alison Calvin-Stupfel and
Noah Meucci both set top 10 marks at the Oregon Preview Friday between the women's high jump and men's hammer, respectively, receiving the boost that competing at a world-class venue like Hayward Field can bring.
Â
Calvin-Stupfel was the new top 10 entry Friday. She moved into a tie for ninth all-time in the high jump with a clearance at 5-05.00 (1.65m). It was a third-attempt clearance for Calvin-Stupfel at that height, after a first-attempt clearance at 5-03.00 (1.60m). She then missed on all three attempts at 5-07.00 (1.70m).
Â
Calvin-Stupfel also ranks tied for ninth all-time in the indoor high jump, having cleared 5-04.50 (1.64m) at the George Fox Indoor Meet #2 on Feb. 17.
Â
Meucci, meanwhile, was already ranked eighth all-time in the hammer after his season-opening mark of 144-01 (43.93m) at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker on March 2. Meucci added an inch to that mark Friday, throwing 144-02 (43.96m) on his opening attempt of the competition.
Â
More Vikings will be in action Saturday, as the Vikings continue at the Oregon Preview. The Vikings' day starts with
Carley Strand in the women's pole vault at 12 p.m.
