Portland State Basketball Coach
Jase Coburn has announced the signing of local product Brayden Barron to a National Letter of Intent for the 2025-26 academic year.
Barron is a 6-6 forward who is currently a senior at Sam Barlow High School in Gresham. As a junior, Barron helped lead his Barlow team to a 21-8 record, including 11-3 and second place in the Mt. Hood Conference. The Bruins finished fourth in state at the 6A level. He averaged 14.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, earning first team All-League honors and honorable mention All-State.
"It is great to have someone from the Portland metro area who will have a great sense of pride in being a player at Portland State," said Coburn. "Brayden is a local player who really wants to be at Portland State. There is always a little bit more of an edge for someone who is protecting their home.
"We recruit a certain type of player and person. Brayden really fits who we are. Athletically, I think he is as good as there is. Brayden is continuing to develop and get better and that trend will continue here. His size and versatility is really going to make an impact at Portland State."
Portland State currently has seven seniors on its 14-player roster. The Vikings have started the 2024-25 season with a 2-1 record, including a road victory at San Diego on Tuesday, 85-76.
