Portland State Men's Basketball has signed Tre-Vaughn Minott to a grant-in-aid agreement for the 2023-24 season.
Minott fills a need inside for the Vikings at 6-9, 260 pounds. He will be a junior transfer after playing in parts of three seasons at South Carolina. In total, he played 29 games with five starts, averaging 1.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, blocking 12 shots and shooting .685 from the field.
"Tre-Vaughn is an outstanding person with high character. I have really enjoyed getting to know him throughout this process," said Viking Coach
Jase Coburn. "He definitely gives us a different element to the team. He is a good post defender and rebounder and we can throw the ball to him inside. One of our priorities in the off-season was to find a player with those skills and we feel we have done that with Tre-Vaughn.
"He has played against outstanding competition throughout his career. So we are really excited to see what he can do in a Portland State uniform."
Minott is a native of Montreal, Quebec. He attended the NBA Academy Latin America in Mexico City.
Minott is the third signee to the Viking program for 2023-24. The Vikings return nine letterwinners and one redshirt from 2022-23.
