BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Portland State women's tennis team fell to Weber State, 4-3, in a Big Sky dual on Saturday afternoon at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center. The Vikings dropped to 5-8 overall and 1-2 in conference action, while the Wildcats improved to 4-6 and 1-1 in Big Sky play.

"If today showed anything, it's that we have depth," Viking Assistant coach
Josiah Petersen said. "We always hope for our whole team to be available for each match, but almost every player is interchangeable throughout our lineup."

Playing without
Masha Ponomareva, Portland State dropped the opening point, falling in two of three doubles matches at courts one and three.

"Everyone stepped up and played extremely well against a tough opponent with good talent and strong coaching," Peterson continued. "Couldn't be more proud of the girls, no matter the outcome."

The Vikings took three singles matches but Weber State clinched the match with three wins in singles play.
Elizabeth Strongina,
Makoto Ohara and
Emily Rees all earned wins for the Vikings.

Portland State will return to action against North Dakota on Wednesday, March 15 at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center (9 am).
