LEESBURG, Fla. – The Portland State softball team dropped its final game of opening weekend at The Spring Games, 9-1 to Michigan on Sunday. The Vikings finished the weekend 2-3, while Michigan improved to 4-1.
Olivia Grey held the Wolverines scoreless through five innings before their bats caught fire in the top of the sixth. A series of Portland State errors, a pitching change and six hits gave Michigan a 9-0 lead.

The Vikings were able to tack on one run in the bottom of the sixth when a sac fly from
Emily Johansen scored
Maddie Thompson, but it wasn't enough to avoid the run rule.
Â
Grey fell to 2-1 in the circle, after holding Michigan to just one hit through five innings. The Vikings were held hitless by Michigan starter Jessica LeBeau.
Â
Portland State will return to action in Arizona next weekend. They'll open the tournament against BYU and Arizona State on Friday, Feb. 17 in Tempe.
