BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Portland State men's tennis team swept its way to a second-straight victory this afternoon, defeating Lewis & Clark 7-0 at the Tualatin Hills Babette Horenstein Tennis Center.
The Vikings improved to 2-3 overall while the Pioneers fell to 0-1.
Taking the opening point, the Vikings swept the doubles field for the first time this season. No. 1 duo
Nils Plutat and
Sam De Vries defeated Krisian Peev and Alberto Dos Santos 6-3. On court two,
Tommy Hsu and
Otto Holtari earned their first victory, taking down their Pioneer opponents 6-1.
Oliver Richards and
Andrew Vu cruised past Atticus Pallock and Miles Stone 6-1 to complete the sweep for the Vikings.
All six Vikings took care of business in singles action. Sophomore
Oliver Richards led the way at the No. 3 spot, blanking Dos Santos 6-0, 6-0, while Vu followed close behind with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat at No. 6.
Plutat picked up his second-straight win at No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Peev, while
Tommy Hsu downed Logan Hausler 6-2, 6-1 on court two. De Vries picked up his third consecutive win in an easy 6-1, 6-1 defeat at No. 4 before Holtari finished things off for the Vikings, clawing his way to a 7-5, 6-2 victory on court five.
