After outstanding careers as students and as athletes, Eszter Zador and Kenton Bartlett have been named the 2019-20 Big Sky Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year at Portland State University.
Both Zador and Bartlett graduated from PSU during the 2019-20 academic year, completing successful careers in tennis and football, respectively.
Zador, originally from Budapest, Hungary, played three seasons for the Vikings women's tennis team. She earned her degree in Theater Arts with a Photography minor. After one season at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Zador transferred to PSU for the 2017-18 season. In 2018-19, she had a 10-3 record in singles play at number three and four. At 7-3 in Big Sky matches, Zador earned second team All-Big Sky Conference. She was a two-time Academic All-Big Sky honoree.Â
Zador will attend graduate school at Columbia University.
Bartlett, from Boise, ID, lettered four seasons on the Vikings football team, and was a starter at defensive tackle for three seasons. A two-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection, Bartlett earned third-team All-Big Sky as a junior and honorable mention as senior. Bartlett finished his career with 108 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He earned his degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
To be eligible for this award, the student-athlete must have exhausted his or her intercollegiate athletic eligibility and/or be a member of the graduating class, earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0) scale, been a participant in a Big Sky-sponsored sport, completed at least two (2) years of intercollegiate competition at the institution, and been a letter winner.
