SPOKANE, Wash. – The Portland State women's tennis team fell to Gonzaga 4-0 in non-conference play on the road on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Vikings fall to 3-5 on the season, remaining 1-1 in Big Sky play while Gonzaga improves to 7-5.
The Zags earned the doubles point to take an early advantage, winning 6-2 on court one and 6-1 on court two.
In singles play,
Lotti Meszaros dropped her match at No. 1, falling 6-0, 6-2 while
Eszter Zador fell at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-1 to give Gonzaga a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs clinched the match with a win at No. 6 as
Gerda Upeniece fought to a 6-1, 6-2 loss.
Playing at No. 2,
Jacinta Milenkoski fell in set one 6-1 before fighting back to a 5-2 lead in the second set as the dual was called after Gonzaga clinched the win.
The Vikings return to conference play on Sunday as they travel to Eastern Washington for a dual, start time set for noon.
