Scottsdale, AZ - Portland State won an 18-hole dual match over Utah Valley 6 1/2 to 5 1/2 on Thursday at Talking Stick Golf Resort.
 
The dual featured a Ryder Cup-style format with six holes each of foursomes, fourball and individual matches.
 
The first six holes of foursomes, or alternate shot, ended in a tie at 1 ½ to 1 ½ tie. Each team won a match and the third was a tie. Utah Valley won the four-ball segment, 2-1 to have a 3 ½ to 2 ½ lead going into individual matches. 
 
Portland State took the individual matches, 4-2, on the final six holes with wins from Jasmine Cabajar, Katie Harris, Valerie Hernandez and Windy Huang. 
 
The match was a warmup to the Vikings spring season. This weekend the Vikings will compete in the Grand Canyon Invitational at Grand Canyon University Golf Course in Phoenix.
