The recent release of the NCAA Graduation Rate survey shows that Portland State student-athletes are achieving at a higher rate than their student peers.
PSU student-athletes had a 63% graduation rate for the period of 2013-14 to 2018-19. The general PSU student body graduation rate was 48%. Moreover, the NCAA's Student-Athlete Graduation Success Rate (GSR) tracks all student-athletes that transfer to or from an institution. Portland State's GSR is 85%.
Four Portland State programs have perfect GSR scores of 100%. They are men's tennis, women's golf, volleyball and women's basketball.
Portland State's Compliance and Student Services department released an academic report for the 2019-20 school year and the Vikings were impressive. PSU student-athletes had a 3.34 GPA for the year, including a spring term GPA of 3.56 when the structure of daily academic progress took a challenging turn. Some 78 student-athletes achieved a 4.0 GPA during spring term, 155 ranked at 3.50 or above.
Thirty-four PSU student-athletes were named to the Portland State University President's List, while 14 made the Dean's List for 2019-20. Every sport program had at least one member on the President's List.
Portland State women's tennis maintained the top team GPA for 2019-20 with a 3.78 cumulative GPA, and holds a 3.72 GPA overall. All PSU athletic programs maintain team GPAs of at least 2.96 or higher, while 11 of 13 (combining indoor and outdoor track) are at 3.26 or higher.
