OGDEN, Utah – After nearly a three-hour delay and a change in location due to field conditions, the Portland State women's soccer team finally played its match against Weber State, which resulted in a 1-0 loss for the Vikings on Sunday afternoon.
The loss snaps a two-match win streak for the Vikings who move to 2-9-0 on the season and 1-1-0 in Big Sky Conference play while the Wildcats improve to 2-7-1, 1-0-1 BSC.
Weber St. scored the game-winner after sending a pass to the left side of the field and into the box on a counter play before Taylor Scadlock hit a shot to the right of the keeper to take a 1-0 lead in the 18
th minute.
The Vikings continued to battle offensively, registering two shots on goal in the first half. The first came off an attempt by
Paige Donathan in the 34
th minute while
Rilee Castilla added another chance in the 41
st, both of which ended in saves.
Still down 1-0 at the start of the second half, Portland State continued to push on offense, tallying eight shots in the period. Tea Poore finished with a team high three shots while
Enya Hernandez kept the Vikings within one score, finishing with five saves on the day.
Between the 78

nd minute, the Vikings managed five shots in a row with three shots on target ending in saves.

The Vikings return home next weekend as they host Southern Utah and Northern Arizona beginning on Friday, Oct. 4.
