Portland, OR – Portland State pulled off an easy win and a milestone in their final non-conference home game, beating Portland Bible, 101-48, at Viking Pavilion.

There were tense moments for the Vikings early on. Portland Bible came out ready to go and jumped to a 15-7 lead six minutes into the game.

A Portland State timeout and a talking-to from Coach Barret Peery seemed to get the Vikings going. They scored the next 18 points in a row holding the Wildcats without a point for six minutes. After a Portland Bible bucket, PSU scored another 28 in a row, for a remarkable 46-2 run. The Wildcats were scoreless again for seven-minutes, 33-seconds before getting a basket late in the half.

By halftime, the Vikings had a comfortable 54-19 lead. PSU had 27 points off 15 Portland Bible turnovers.

The second-half highlight came on a three-pointer by Holland "Boo Boo" Woods with 12:22 left on the clock. Woods' triple put him over 1,000 career points at Portland State. The Viking junior became the 19th player in the 59-year basketball history of PSU to reach 1,000 points.

The rout of Portland Bible allowed the Vikings to spread the minutes and points around to everyone. In fact, PSU's bench scored 55 of the 101 total points.

Sophomore guard Ian Burke came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points in 23 minutes of action. He made 8-13 from the field, 5-8 from three-point range and 2-2 at the line, adding five assists, four rebounds and four steals in the game.

Freshman guard Kyle Greeley had 17 points in 22 minutes off the bench. He hit 5-7 from the field, 2-3 from distance and 5-5 at the line, adding seven rebounds.

Matt Hauser finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Markus Golder scored 10 points with eight rebounds. Lamar Hamrick also had 10 points off the bench.

Rashaad Goolsby led the Vikings in rebounding for the sixth straight game, getting nine. PSU had a resounding 55-25 advantage on the glass.

PSU also shot a season-best .519 from the field (41-79).

"After a very slow start, our guys went on a monster run. So they responded and I was happy to see that," said Viking Coach Barret Peery.

"I thought it was a very good team win and everybody got a chance to contribute, which was nice to see. It was fun to see Kyle and Ian shoot the ball well and score. And congratulations to Boo Boo on his 1,000th point."

Portland Bible made only 21-62 shots (.339) and committed 20 turnovers. Kaseem Dupree and Antoine Wilder each had 10 points for the Wildcats.

Portland State's win was its second in a row at home as the Vikings improved to 5-5 on the season. PSU is 3-1 at home this season, and 15-5 all-time at Viking Pavilion since it opened in 2018.

GAME NOTES: Center Daniel Giannosa saw his first action of the season after joining the team on Dec. 2. The 6-10, 280-pounder, who plays on the Viking football team, scored on his first two touches of the game, both from offensive rebounds. They missed Alonzo Walker for a third game (foot)... Portland State beat the Wildcats by record scores in each of the last two seasons, 125-50 and 123-40… Portland Bible is a member of the Pacific Christian Athletic Conference… PSU plays its final two non-conference games next week on the road. The Vikings play Pepperdine on Tuesday, then Loyola Marymount on Thursday. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
