Taumoepeau, Adams, Daigbe Highlight Vikings' All-Conference Selections

Tight end Charlie Taumoepeau, safety Anthony Adams and wide receiver Emmanuel Daigbe all highlight Portland State Football's All-Big Sky Conference selections. Taumoepeau became a two-time first team All-Big Sky choice. Adams earned first team All-Big Sky after leading the league and the nation in passes defended. And Daigbe was selected as first team in the Special Teams category, as well as a third team All-Big Sky wide receiver.

In all, eight Vikings earned Big Sky honors as the league released the All-Conference teams today, as voted on by league head coaches.

Taumoepeau, a 6-3, 245-pound senior from Federal Way, WA, earned first team All-Big Sky Conference for the second year in a row after being second team as a sophomore. The Vikings' top receiver during his career, he was a second team All-American last year and preseason All-American in 2019. Taumoepeau caught 36 passes for 474 yards and two touchdowns this season despite missing two games. He wrapped up a career that included 117 catches, 1,876 yards and 11 TDs.

Adams, a 6-foot, 185-pound sophomore from Newberg, led the nation in passes defended this season with a total of 24. He made five interceptions and broke up 19 passes, both of which led the Big Sky Conference. Adams ranked 13th in the nation in interceptions. He also had 56 tackles, two tackles for loss and blocked a kick on special teams. Adams broke the Portland State school record for pass breakups in a season (previously 15). He is one of 26 players from around the country listed on the ballot for the Buck Buchanan Award, for the nation's top defensive player.

Daigbe, a 6-1, 210-pound wide receiver from Kent, WA, made his mark all over the field for the Vikings in earning two All-Big Sky awards. As a wide receiver, he led the Vikings with 40 receptions for 651 yards and seven touchdowns. Daigbe added 19 rushing plays for 87 yards and a touchdown. On special teams, Daigbe made 11 tackles and one fumble recovery this season, and had a 19.5 yard kick return average.

Viking kicker Cody Williams was given third team All-Big Sky Conference honors for the second season in a row. Williams, a native of Murrieta, CA, made 15-22 field goals and all 45 extra points he attempted. The sophomore set two new school records and tied a third this season. Williams' 56-yard field goal at Northern Colorado broke the PSU record of 55 yards set in 1975 by Pat Moore. His five field goals at Northern Arizona tied for the most made in a game. And, with 82 consecutive extra points made in his career, he has established a new record (previous, 77 in a row).

Given an opportunity for a sixth year by the NCAA, senior center Garrett Stauffer made the most of it. He was named third team All-Big Sky Conference this season. The 6-3, 290-pounder from Sam Barlow (OR) High School had missed two full seasons in his career due to injuries, but he started every game at center in each of the last two years and the last 27 games he was available to play, with the exception of one. Stauffer missed the Sept. 28 game at Idaho State after having an appendectomy. However, he returned just 10 days later to start in a win against Southern Utah.

Three Viking seniors on the defensive line earned honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference. They include: defensive tackle Anthony Del Toro (Grants Pass, OR; 33 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks); defensive tackle Kenton Bartlett (Boise, ID; 31 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one blocked kick); and defensive end Shawn Richard (Miami, FL; 28 tackles, 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble).

Portland State completed its season in 2019 with a 5-7 record. Four teams from the Big Sky Conference earned FCS post-season berths (Weber State, Sacramento State, Montana, Montana State) and first-round byes in the playoffs.

Other national post-season honors will be announced at various times in December.
