Portland, OR - Portland State's 116-71 victory over Linfield offered a little bit everything.

The Vikings were led once again by their talented senior guards Deontae North and Bryce Canda. The duo combined for 44 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists. North went for a game-high 27 points and made five steals. Canda came one assist short of a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high nine assists.

Six Vikings scored in double figures, including senior center Ryan Edwards, who went for a season-high 19 points in just 22 minutes. Edwards made 7-9 shots from the field and also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds.

Making his first career start, junior forward Jamie Orme had 13 points and a season-high nine rebounds.

The win improved Portland State's record to 9-3 on the season. That matches its best 12-game mark in its 22 seasons as a Division I and Big Sky Conference member. PSU improved to 4-0 at home and extended its home winning streak to six games.

That's not to stay Division III Linfield didn't prove to be competitive. The Wildcats were within eight points with 6:31 remaining in the first half. But the Vikings closed out the half on an 18-9 rally to lead 47-30 at intermission.

The Wildcats again cut the lead to a dozen at the 17:53 mark of the second half. Then Orme hit a three-point field goal for the Vikings - the first of 13 successful triples in the second half - and the Vikings were on their way. Portland State out-scored the Wildcats 69-41 in the second half to run away with an expected victory.

The Vikings shot 40-78 (.513) from the field, making a season-high 18 three-pointers on a school-record 41 three-point attempts (.439). PSU also won the rebounding battle, 52-36. The usual recipe of full-court pressure defense produced 27 Wildcat turnovers for 33 Viking points.

Riley Bruil lead Linfield with 13 points. Jordan Clark had 11 points and five rebounds. The Wildcats shot 26-60 (.433) from the field, and only 7-27 (.259) from distance and 12-25 (.480) at the free throw line.

GAME NOTES: The Vikings are 49-8 at home in non-conference games over the last 11 seasons… PSU has won 32 straight games against lower division schools and is 44-1 overall in 22 seasons as a member of the Big Sky Conference… Portland State plays its final non-conference game on Thursday at California.
