Portland State offensive lineman Justin Outslay has been named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic America® 8 2nd Team for all of Division I football.
Outslay, a senior from Salem, OR, had previously been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 team earning a nomination to the national ballot. With his Academic All-America selection, he becomes the sixth Academic All-American in Portland State program history. Honors have been won by Viking student athletes at total of 10 times.
A starting right tackle from Salem (OR) Academy, Outslay is among 50 Division I football players from both the FCS and FBS level to earn honors on the first and second Academic All-America teams this season.
Outslay is a Business Finance major at Portland State with a 3.91 grade point average. He completed his degree requirements this past term. A four-year letterwinner in the Viking program, he started every game this season at right tackle.
The Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
