LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Vikings gave No. 20 Oklahoma everything they could but it was not enough as they fell, 74-60, Wednesday night to conclude play at the Puerto Rico Classic.

Portland State (6-5 overall) outshot and outrebounded Oklahoma (9-3) but the Vikings could not overcome a season-high 40 turnovers that led to 35 points for the Sooners.

Oklahoma's aggressive trap defense wreaked havoc on the Vikings' offense all game long. Portland State shot .500 (20-for-40) for the game but were limited in their possessions due to the high number of turnovers.

Ashley Torres Negron led the Vikings with 12 points off the bench. She went 3-for-6 from the floor with a trio of three-pointers. She went 3-for-5 at the line and recorded two steals in just 13 minutes.

Portland State led 11-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Vikings held the Sooners to just 2-of-21 shooting in the first quarter but were unable to take full advantage of the poor shooting due to turnovers.

The Vikings went on a run late in the second quarter to open a 10-point lead, 34-24, at the half. They shot .682 while holding Oklahoma to .211 in the first half.

Portland State had a tough start to the second half as Oklahoma went on an 8-0 run to make it a 34-32 game. Sophomore F
Pia Jurhar ended the run with a 15-foot jumper but the Sooners continued their run and took the lead, 39-38, after a pair of free throws. Oklahoma outscored the Vikings 21-5 in the third quarter to take a 45-39 lead heading into the fourth.

Torres Negron pulled the Vikings within two at 48-46 after back-to-back three-pointers. The Sooners, who struggled shooting in the first half, figured things out in the second. They outscored Portland State 50-26 in the second half to win by the final score of 74-60.

Oklahoma's Maddy Manning posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 steals.

The Vikings will have a few days off for the holiday before heading to Tucson, Ariz. where they will take on the Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Tip is slated for 6 p.m. PT.Â
