Vikings Fall to No. 25 Ducks at the Moda Center

PORTLAND – The Vikings dropped the first game of their eight-game road trip, 90-46, to No. 25 Oregon Saturday night at the Moda Center.

Portland State kept the score close through the first 10 minutes. The Vikings went 9-for-17 from the floor during the first quarter and trailed by three, 22-19, heading into the second.

Portland State cooled off from the floor over the next two quarters, going 3-for-31, as they were outscored 42-12 and trailed 64-31 heading into the fourth. The Vikings shot better in the fourth quarter but it was too little, too late.

Sophomore F Courtney West scored a team-high nine points, going 4-for-10 from the floor and 1-for-2 at the line. She pulled down just two rebounds as the Vikings were out-rebounded 47-to-36 for the game.

Senior G Ashley Torres Negron added eight points off the bench while Yaremi Mejia and Pia Jurhar added six points each. Jurhar led the team with six rebounds.

Portland State's leading scorers were held in check against the Ducks. Sidney Rielly was limited to just five points, while Ashley Bolston was held scoreless.

Portland State shot a season-low .269 from the floor and .091 from three-point range for the game.

Oregon had four players in double-figures, led by freshman forward Ruthy Hebard. She posted a double-double with a game-high 28 points (12-for-13) and 17 rebounds.

The Vikings have a quick turnaround as they travel to Las Vegas, Nev. for three games as part of the Puerto Rico Classic starting Monday. Portland State will take on Northern Kentucky, Kennesaw State, and Oklahoma while in Vegas.

NOTES:
• Portland State shot a season-low .269 from the floor and .091 from three-point range.
