LAS VEGAS, Nev. – After a tough loss Saturday night, the Vikings bounced back with a commanding, 77-54, win over Northern Kentucky to open play at the Puerto Rico Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Vikings (5-4 overall) shot over 50.0 percent from the floor for the second time in last three games. Portland State went 30-for-58 from the floor with nine three-pointers en route to the 23-point victory. PSU held the Norse (2-8) to an opponent season-low .302 (19-for-63).

Sidney Rielly posted her fifth 20-point game of the season after dropping 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting. She went 2-for-4 from beyond the arc and pulled down three rebounds in 27 minutes of action.

Ashley Bolston posted a near-triple-double Monday night with 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in 28 minutes. She sat out the final eight minutes of the game as the Vikings ran away with the win.

The Vikings got contributions all the way down the roster. They got 30 points off the bench, led by sophomore G
Kian McNair's nine points. She went 3-for-7 from the floor with a pair of three-pointers. She also posted four assists and three steals. Sophomore G
Corey James hit a pair of three-pointers off the bench and pulled down five rebounds.

Northern Kentucky hit the first shot of the game but the Vikings quickly tied it and then took the lead on a layup from Rielly. The score would be tied two more times during the early stages of the first quarter but the Vikings never relinquished the lead.

Tied at 14-14, the Vikings went on a 10-0 run to take a 24-14 lead after a three-pointer from sophomore G
Michaela Kay. The Vikings maintained their double-digit lead and led, 41-31, at the break.

Portland State opened the second half on an 8-3 run to go up 49-34. The Vikings ended the third with an 8-3 run to go up 65-44. PSU shot .600 from the floor in the third period, going 9-for-15. Rielly scored 10 of her 23 points, while Bolston tallied six of her eight assists in the quarter.

The Vikings went up by as much as 27 points in the fourth, before closing out the 23-point victory. Portland State held Northern Kentucky to just two field goals and 10 points in the fourth. The Norse went 19-for-63 (.302) from the floor and just 2-for-14 (.143) from three-point range.

Portland State's defense held Northern Kentucky to an opponent season-lows 54 points. The Vikings forced 17 turnovers, which turned into 18 points.

Rebecca Lyttle led the Norse with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Kasey Uetrecht scored nine points on 4-of-20 shooting.

The Vikings are back in action Tuesday against Kennesaw State. The Owls fell to Arkansas State, 70-67, earlier Monday. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 p.m. PT.
