GRAND FORKS, N. D. – After going nearly 18 years without scoring 15 runs in a game, the Portland State Vikings plated 15 runs for the second time this season defeating North Dakota 15-5 in six innings to complete the season sweep.

Three different Vikings tallied three hits in the game. Melissa Masters led the Vikings at the plate going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and a career-high five runs batted in. She also launched her second home run of the season, fourth of her career.

Brittany Hendrickson continued her hit parade going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three more runs batted in. Her three RBIs bring her season total to 34. She also walked once in the game for a Portland State single-season record 29th time. Hendrickson has now walked 77 times in her career, second all-time.

Hendrickson was off the charts at the plate against North Dakota going 8-for-13 (.615) on the weekend with five runs scored, a pair of doubles, two home runs, and eight RBIs. She also tallied a 1.231 slugging mark with a .667 on base percentage.

Portland State got the scoring going with three runs in the top of the first. Rayleen Pallan led off the game with an infield single. After being moved to second on a wild pitch and third on a sacrifice bunt, Hendrickson drove her in with a single up the middle. Masters then drove in two more runs on a single to center field later in the inning to put the Vikings up 3-0.

North Dakota plated two runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the third off Portland State starting pitcher Karyn Wright. Kristen Crawford came on in relief of Wright with no outs in the third and stopped the UND rally.

The score remained 4-3 in favor of North Dakota before the Vikings retook the lead with five runs in the top of the fifth. Flores and Masters each recorded RBI singles to give the Vikings a 5-4 lead. Nelson then drove in two with a shot past the first baseman before Pallan singled in another to put the Vikings up 8-5.

The Vikings were not done scoring as they plated seven more runs in the top of the sixth highlighted by a two-run home run by Masters and a two-run double by Hendrickson to give the Vikings their second 15-run game of the season.

Crawford threw three scoreless innings before giving up an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Vikings took the game 15-5 in six innings.

Crawford allowed three hits and one unearned run over four innings en route to her second win of the weekend. Crawford also struck out a career high seven batters.

The Vikings improved to 13-30 overall and 6-9 in Big Sky Conference action with the series sweep, their first of the season. North Dakota fell to 10-35 and 0-15.
