RENO, Nev. – The Vikings dropped a pair of games at the Wolf Pack Classic Saturday in Reno, Nev. They fell to St. Mary's by a score of 6-4 before falling to Nevada 6-2.

Game 1 – St. Mary's 6, Portland State 4Â
Ashley Smith led off the bottom of the first for the Vikings with an infield single to shortstop. After moving to second on a sacrifice bunt and to third on an illegal pitch, Smith was driven in on a sacrifice fly to right field off the bat of
Brittany Hendrickson to put the Vikings up 1-0.

Alex Flores walked with two out in the bottom of the second and moved to second base on another walk.
Shae Nelson then drove in Flores with a single to right field to increase the Vikings' lead to 2-0 through two complete innings.

After a scoreless third inning, the Gaels plated three runs, one earned, to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth. They plated three more runs in the top of the fifth inning to go up 6-2.

The Vikings plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-RBI single up the middle to pull within two runs at 6-4 with no outs in the inning. However, the Vikings were unable to mount the comeback and fell 6-4.

Smith went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored against the Gaels while Hendrickson went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Meagan Hendrix got the start in the circle for the Vikings and allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits while walking three in the losing effort. She fell to 1-6 on the season.

Game 2 – Nevada 6, Portland State 2Â
Smith again led off the game for the Vikings with an infield single in the top of the first inning.
Rayleen Pallan singled to put two runners on. After two straight outs,
Lexi Goranson singled in Smith to put the Vikings up 1-0. Pallan also moved to third on the play. Pallan scored when Goranson stole second to go up 2-0.

The Vikings' lead did not last long as the Wolf Pack plated five runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-2 lead.

After three scoreless innings, Nevada added a run in the bottom of the sixth to go up 6-2. After scoring two runs in the first inning, the Vikings were held scoreless over the final six frames. They left six runners in scoring position including the bases loaded in the top of the fourth.

Kristen Crawford allowed six runs, five earned, on eight hits while striking out one in the losing effort. She fell to 3-6 with the loss.

Smith went 3-for-3 with a run scored in the game.
Aubrey Nitschelm and Goranson each added two hits in the game.

The Vikings will conclude action at the Wolf Pack Classic Sunday morning against St. Mary's. First pitch is slated for 10 a.m. PT.Â
