Portland State Falls to North Dakota 76-45

GRAND FORKS, N.D. –
The Portland State women's basketball team fell 76-45 to North Dakota Thursday night in Grand Forks, N. D. Emily Easom led the Vikings with 11 points.
 
Easom scored seven of her 11 points at the free-throw line, pulled down five rebounds, and had three assists and three steals. The Vikings shot 24.1 percent from the floor while North Dakota shot 40.9 percent.
 
Lauren Holt scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds with one steal. Danah Haley added a career-high 10 points and matched her career high with nine rebounds.
 
The Vikings struggled out of the gate falling behind 28-9 midway through the first half. North Dakota kept the pressure on throughout the rest of the half and led 46-21 at the break.
 
North Dakota built up a 36-point lead with 8:40 remaining in the game before winning by the final score of 76-45. UND dominated down low with a 32-to-8 advantage in the paint. UND also turned 17 PSU turnovers in to 23 points.
 
UND's Mia Loyd led all scorers with 14 points going 7-for-13 from the floor. No other UND player scored in double figures but seven players had at least five points.
 
North Dakota improved to 17-9 overall and 9-5 in Big Sky Conference action while Portland State fell to 3-22 and 1-13.
 
The Vikings will now head to Greeley, Colo. where they will take on the Northern Colorado Bears Saturday at 2 p.m. MT.
 
Notes: Head Coach Sherri Murrell was relieved of her coaching duties prior to Thursday's game … Jennifer Mountain will coach the final five games on an interim basis … Danah Haley scored a career-high 10 points while pulling down nine rebounds to match her career high … Ani Avanessian did not play due to injury.
