CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington took the first women's basketball Dam Cup matchup of the season by a score of 101-54 Thursday night in Cheney, Wash.

Eastern Washington shot a school-record 68-percent (34-for-50) from the floor and 69-percent from 3-point range. The Eagles went 11-for-16 from behind the arc.

Portland State trailed by two points at 8-6 before Eastern Washington went on a 36-7 run over the next 9:08 to go up 44-13 with just over six minutes left in the first half. Eastern Washington led 60-24 at the break after shooting 72.4-percent from the floor in the half.

The Eagles continued their hot shooting in the second half shooting over 61-percent for the half. They outscored the Vikings 41-30 in the second half to win by the final 47-point margin.

Emily Easom led the Vikings with 18 points. Easom did most of her damage at the free-throw line going a perfect 12-for-12.

Portland State guard
Lariel Powell got into foul trouble early with two fouls in the first 10 minutes of the game. She picked up her third foul with 3:32 remaining in the first half, which forced her to sit until the intermission. She ended up fouling out with 7:34 left in the second half with just five points and three assists.

Cici West each added eight points for the Vikings.

Eastern Washington had five players in double-figures led by Lexie Nelson's game-high 22 points. Hayley Hodgins added 20 points for the Eagles.

Eastern Washington improved to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in Big Sky play, while Portland State fell to 3-13 and 1-4.

Portland State will play at the University of Idaho Saturday at 2 p.m. PT. It will be the first time that the Vandals and Vikings have faced-off since Idaho rejoined the Big Sky Conference on July 1, 2014. Idaho was a founding member of the Big Sky but left following the 1995-96 season, the year prior to Portland State's entrance.
