POCATELLO, Idaho – The Portland State Vikings picked up a set but fell 3-1 at Big Sky Conference leading Idaho State Thursday night in Pocatello, Idaho. The Bengals took the match my scores of 25-15, 25-17, 17-25, and 25-19.

The Vikings welcomed back senior outside hitter
Cheyne Corrado to the starting lineup after she missed the last two matches due to injury. Corrado came back and led the Vikings with 10 kills and 13 digs for her team-leading eighth double-double.

Fellow senior outside hitter
Leigh-Ann Haataja also tallied 10 kills for the Vikings while posting the team's only two service aces of the match. Haataja also added a trio of blocks.

Portland State held a 7-to-5 blocks advantage led by senior middle blocker
Katie O'Brien's five. O'Biren added five kills while freshman
Lauren Nicholson added nine kills off the bench.

The Vikings (7-18 overall, 5-8 Big Sky Conference) briefly led early in the first set but their lead did not last long as the Bengals (18-8, 12-1) retook the lead and did not look back. ISU took the first set 25-15. It was a similar story in the second set as the Bengals took the second set 25-17 to go up 2-1.

Portland State came out of the mid-match break with a renewed defensive intensity. The Vikings hit .241 in the set while holding the Bengals to a -.054 hitting mark. Idaho State hit into five blocks in the set with O'Brien in the mix on four. The Vikings also posted 15 digs in the set led by Kasimira "Kasi" Clark's eight. Clark finished with a match-high 23 digs.

The Vikings led wire-to-wire in the third. They went on a 7-0 run behind some tough serving from Corrado. Haataja gave the Vikings the 25-17 win in the third with a service ace.

The fourth set was tied late at 19-19 before the Bengals rattled off five straight points to take the set 25-19 and the match 3-1.

Idaho State's Tressa Lyman tallied a match-high 17 kills while two other Bengals added 10 kills each.

The Vikings will attempt to right the ship Saturday night when they take on the Weber State Wildcats in Ogden, Utah.Â
