AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Bianca Martin didn't allow her first and final season at Portland State to end just yet as the first-year distance runner qualified for the 1500-meter finals after coming in 23rd of 48 runners on Thursday in Austin, Texas. Martin was one of four Vikings to compete at the regional but was the only athlete to move on.

Martin came in with a time of 4:24.45, just shy of her personal and Portland State best of 4:23.89. Teammate Amber Rozcicha also competed in the event and came in 47th with a time of 4:49.48.

Also competing was the co-recipient of the Big Sky outdoor track and field championship most outstanding female athlete, Joenisha Vinson. Vinson, who has already qualified for the NCAA championships in Eugene, Ore., in the heptathlon, competed in the long jump, coming in 35th with a final mark of 5.78m (18-11.75), as she failed to advance to the finals.

Senior Geronne Black took part in the 100-meter dash as she clocked in with a time of 11.62, .05 seconds off her season-best time of 11.57. While Black bested 20 other entrants, the Brooklyn N.Y., missed the cut by .01 seconds as she was one of four athletes that were on the outside looking in, with their time of 11.62.

Camelia Mayfield competed in the 10,000-meter run and clocked in with a time of 37:24.79 and a 37th place finish.
