Moore Jumps Her Way into the Record Books on Final Day of Oregon Relays

EUGENE, Ore. – The Portland State track & field team continued its march toward the Big Sky Track & Field Outdoor Championship with a day of excellent final day of the Oregon Relays at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Montaisha Moore moved to sixth all-time at Portland State in the women's triple jump with a career-best mark of 37-11.25 (11.56m) to finish third overall in the event. Her distance improves on her Big Sky Championship qualifying mark and would put her third in the conference this season.

Geronne Black finished second to only Oregon's English Gardner, who set the meet record, in the women's 100-meter dash Saturday. Black finished with a time of 11.66, just missing the meet record herself by just 0.06 seconds.

Sierra Brooks, coming off tying her career best in the women's 200-meter dash on Friday, set a personal best in the 100-meter dash with at time of 11.90 to finish fourth in the event. Her time Saturday is the second best on the team this season and moves her into the top-10 all-time at Portland State.

Jazmin Ratcliff finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.17 while Anaiah Rhodes finished sixth and P'Lar Dorsett finished seventh with times of 12.20 and 12.36 respectively. Dejuanae Toliver set a personal-best time of 12.60 in the event.

Dorsett finished third overall in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.53 while Mandy Keifer tied her personal best time of 15.39 with her seventh place finish.

Ashley Frazier finished second in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.35, which is just shy of her Portland State record time of 1:01.52, which she set last weekend at the MONDO Mid-Major Challenge. In the women's 400-meter dash, Dominique Maloney finished fourth overall with a time of 56.55.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Brooks, Black, Rhodes and Ratcliff finished second to host Oregon with a time of 45.73.

Hanna Johnson finished fourth overall in the women's shot put with a distance of 40-11.50 (12.48m).

On the men's side, Jake Ovgard finished fourth overall in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.98 while Jordan Bird ran a personal-best time of 11.33 for the event.

Chris Fasching set a personal-best mark of 52.54 in the men's 400-meter dash to finish 14th overall for the event. Cary Dunagan ran a career best in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:54.96.

Sean Mackelvie finished fourth overall in the men's javelin with a season-best distance of 211-03 (64.40m) to finish fourth overall, which would put him first in the Big Sky Conference.  Spencer Moe finished ninth in the hammer throw with a distance of 148-00 (45.12m).

Former Viking Karene King, who exhausted her eligibility after the indoor season and is now running as a professional, competed in the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday night. She finished third overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.52, which would be the all-time mark at Portland State.

She then won the 200-meter dash with a blistering time of 23.27, just missing the Olympic standard because the wind was 0.1 above legal at 2.1.

The Portland State track & field teams return to Hayward Field on May 5 for the Oregon Twilight.
