Britney Yada shot a season-best, even-par 72 on the final day of the Fresno State Lexus Classic. The Viking sophomore moved up 25 spots on the leaderboard to place 15th overall.
Yada's 72 matched the best round of the day for any of the 75 golfers competing.
The Vikings shot 316 as a team on Tuesday, improving from 13th place to 10th in the final standings as they passed Boise State, Santa Clara and Columbia. PSU finished at 319-305-316=940.
Cal State Fullerton came from behind to pass San Jose State in the final round and win the Lexus Classic. CSF shot 289-301-304=893 over 54 holes. The Spartans were five shots higher on Tuesday, posting 294-294-309=897 to place second.
Madeleine Ziegert of San Jose State won the individual title with a one-under par 215, recording 70-72-73. Ziegert beat Tisha Alyn Abrea of Cal State Fullerton by two shots. Abrea posted 72-71-74 for a one-over 217.
Yada started slow with an 80 in Monday's morning round, but followed that with a 77 in the afternoon. Her 72 on Tuesday left her at 13-over 229 for the tournament. After going out in two-over 38, Yada had two birdies and seven pars for a back-nine 34.
Portland State's
Samantha Webb tied for 38th, her best finish in five tournaments as a Viking. The sophomore shot a PSU-best 77-79-79=235 over the two days.
Senior
Tiffany Schoning was one shot behind Webb, tying for 42nd. Schoning posted 82-75-79=236.
Sophomore
Loren Forney tied for 57th among 75 players, shooting 83-74-86=243. Sophomore
Katie Ortman placed 70th overall, shooting 80-83-90=253.

• There were two other Big Sky Conference schools in the field, both of which topped the Vikings. Montana shot 937 to place ninth, while Sacramento State shot 918 and placed sixth. PSU is now 15-7 in head-to-head scoring with Big Sky schools this season.
• Portland State's next event is the UC Irvine Anteater Invitational, Mar. 26-27, at Dove Canyon Country Club in Santa Margarita, CA. PSU won the event last year, beginning a streak of three straight tournament victories.
