PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior sprinter Geronne Black was named the Big Sky Indoor Female Track Athlete of the Week for this past week it was announced by the conference Tuesday.
 
Black won both her heat and the event final for the women's 60-meter dash at the UW Indoor Preview at the Dempsey Indoor Track in Seattle, Wash. this past weekend with a finals time of 7.49.
 
Her time Saturday is the best in the Big Sky this season and is tied for 27th overall in the country. Her time of 7.49 is just 0.06 seconds off her career-best and school record, which she set last year.
 
Black, and the rest of the Portland State men and women's indoor track teams, will be back on the track this weekend in Albuquerque, N.M. when they take part in the Cherry  & Silver Invitational Jan. 20-12.
