VJ Malo joins the Portland State Coaching Staff in 2025 as a defensive ends coach.

Malo was an All-Big Sky Conference defensive end during his time as a player with the Vikings in 2021-22. As a junior, he had 20 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks on the season. Both numbers were the most by a Viking in the Big Sky era.

Malo is a 2023 graduate of Portland State with a degree in Sociology. He was an assistant football coach at O'Dea High School in Seattle in 2024 when the team won a state championship.
