Vetu Mam is in his seventh season leading Portland State in 2025-26 after taking over as the program’s sixth head coach ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Since taking over the program, Mam has led the Vikings to 30 wins, including nine conference victories, two seasons with seven or more wins, and a Big Sky Tournament appearance.
Over the past two seasons, Mam has guided the Vikings to nine wins and coached four players to seasons with seven or more singles victories. In 2024, the Vikings posted a 20-24 (.455) record in doubles play, including a 9-12 mark against Big Sky opponents.
In 2023, the Vikings finished 7-13 under Mam's leadership, securing notable victories over North Dakota, Idaho State, and Eastern Washington. The team went 2-5 in conference play, narrowly missing a spot in the Big Sky Tournament.
In 2021, Mam led the Vikings to the Big Sky Conference Championship tournament with a 7-10 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play. The team compiled a 45-50 (.474) singles record and a 19-28 (.404) doubles record that season. Five Vikings earned All-Big Sky honors under Mam's guidance, including Nikola Dimitrijevic, who was named a first-team singles selection.
His first season at Portland State (2019-20) was cut short due to COVID-19. During the shortened season, Mam led the Vikings to a 4-5 overall record, going 2-2 in Bg Sky action.
Prior to becoming the head coach, Mam served as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2015-18 seasons, helping lead the Vikings to their first Big Sky Conference Tournament appearance in 2018. He also served as an assistant teaching professional at the West Hills Racquet and Fitness Club from 2014 to 2019.
Mam played for the Vikings during the 2010-11 seasons where he combined for a singles record of 7-9 during his playing career.
As a player, Mam was a member of the Cambodia national team and participated in the Davis Cup from 2012 to 2015. In 2015, he went 2-2 in match play, helping Cambodia get promoted in group ranking. During that same time, Mam participated in the Futures Tour in Asia. He defeated the No. 1 seed in doubles during Cambodia Futures 2 during his run in 2015.
Mam graduated from Portland State in 2011 with a degree in Physical Activity and Exercise.
