Played in 55 sets across 22 matches during the season...Averaged 1.42 kills per set on .229 hitting to go with 0.05 aces, 0.47 digs and 0.56 blocks per set...Recorded 10+ kills in three matches during the season...Tied her career high with five blocks in the Vikings’ Big Sky quarterfinal loss to Sacramento State (11/27)...Recorded seven kills on .304 hitting in the Vikings’ 3-1, comeback win over Weber State (11/21)...Led the Vikings with 10 kills on .318 hitting in the team’s match at Montana (11/16)...Helped lead the Vikings back from a 2-1 deficit to beat Montana State (11/14), 3-2, on the road with 10 kills on .333 hitting...Set a career high with 10 kills on .667 hitting in the Vikings’ 3-0 sweep of Idaho (11/2)...Recorded then-career highs for kills (7), aces (2), digs (4) and points (10.5) in the Vikings’ loss at Idaho State (10/24)...Set a career high with five blocks in the Vikings’ home match against Northern Colorado (10/10)...Recorded four kills on .500 hitting while playing only one set against Pacific (9/14)...Started her first match of the season in the Vikings’ first match at the San Diego State Invitational against Tulane (9/5).
 

2023 SEASON (AS A FRESHMAN)

Appeared in seven matches during the season, totaling 14 kills (1.00 per set) and five total blocks (0.36 per set) during the season...Recorded four kills and two blocks in her first-career start for the Vikings’ 3-0 loss to Weber State (10/14)...Finished with four kills on four swings to go with three blocks while seeing her most extensive action of the season in the Vikings’ 3-1 win over Oregon State (9/16), completing a season sweep of the Beavers...Recorded kills on her only two swings of the match, including one on match point in the Vikings’ 3-0 road sweep of Oregon State (9/14)...Made her Viking debut in the Vikings’ 3-1 loss at Cal (9/1), recording a kill after coming in off the bench.
 

BEFORE PORTLAND STATE

Three-year letterwinner at Canyon Crest Academy in San Diego, Calif…Played for the WAVE volleyball club for 10 years…Took first place at the Big South Qualifier USA Division 2022 with her 17-Reily team…Took first at the USAV Junior Nationals PATRIOT Division…Placed third at the JVA Long Beach Tournament.
 

PERSONAL/MISCELLANEOUS

Daughter of Joel and Dianne DeNecochea…Father, Joel, played volleyball at Long Beach State, while mother, Dianne, played volleyball at the University of Tennessee…Has a sister, Avalon DeNecochea, who is currently a senior volleyball player at Cal Poly (in 2022)…Lists reading books, social justice (abortion rights, Black Lives Matter, mental health awareness), and beach clean ups as hobbies/interests/volunteer activities…Has varied career ambitions which could feature law enforcement, sports psychology, nonprofit work, or being a therapist…Possibly majoring in criminology or psychology.
