PORTLAND STATE VIKINGS
Jenn Wassom

Jenn Wassom

Jenn Wassom is in her fourth year as an assistant coach with the Portland State women’s basketball program. She came to the Park Blocks after spending two seasons as the director of women’s basketball operations at the University of Pacific in Stockton, Calif.

While working for the Tigers, Wassom’s duties included coordinating film exchange, maintaining a recruiting database, purchasing equipment, assisting with game operations and helping prepare the team for practices and workouts.

“I am thrilled Jenn has joined the Viking family,” said Murrell on the date of Wassom’s hiring. “She is excited to be back in Portland and I know she will help us continue winning championships with her experience and enthusiasm.”

No stranger to “The City of Roses,” Wassom played for the Vikings cross-town rival, Portland, from 2005-09, amassing 331 career points and 64 three-pointers. As a sophomore, she shot 36.0 percent from behind the arc, which at the time was the fifth-best single season mark in school history. As a senior, Wassom sank 20 treys for her third double-digit three-point season.

Wassom is a native Oregonian who prepped at Sheldon High School in Eugene, graduating in 2005. She earned second team all-league honors her junior and senior seasons, and third team recognition as a sophomore. Wassom helped the Irish win three Midwestern League titles and qualify for the state tournament twice.

A 2009 graduate of Portland with a degree in sociology, Wassom graduated with a master’s in sports management from the University of the Pacific.
