2023 OUTDOOR:

Ran her first 10k as a Viking at the Portland Distance Carnival (5/12-13), finishing in 37:57.12, a time moves them up to fifth on the all-time freshman list at Portland State...Won the open section of the 5k at the OSU High Performance Meet by more than nine seconds, finishing in 17:43.36...Shaved cover 100 seconds off her outdoor best in the 5k while finishing in 17:44.01 at the Larry Byerly L&C Invite (4/14-15)...Shaved two seconds off their collegiate best in the 800 with a finish in 4:50.89 at the Pacific Open (4/1)...Made her outdoor debut at the L&C Spring Break Open (3/17-18), running the 1,500 meters in 4:52.97.
 

2023 INDOOR:

Moved up to 10th all time in the 5k while finishing in 17:54.88 at the Big Sky Indoor Championships (2/23-25)...Also ran the 3k in 10:49.12 at the Big Sky meet...Ran their first 800-meter race at the Portland Indoor Two (2/5), finishing in 2:31.37...Ran her first 3k at the WSU Open (2/3-4), finishing in 10:37.61...Made their official Viking debut at the Portland Indoor One (1/22), where she finished in 5:20.15.
 

NORTH SALEM HIGH SCHOOL:

Placed second and third in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters, respectively, at the 2022 OSAA 5A State Championships…Also finished third in the 3,000 meters at the 2021 OSAA 5A State meet when she was a junior…Placed fourth at the OSAA 5A State Cross Country Championships as a senior in the fall of 2021…Named the All-Mid-Valley Runner of the Year by the Statesman Journal, as well as the Senior Athlete of the Year by the Salem Sports and Breakfast Club, following the 2021 cross country season…Helped lead their track & field team to a pair of state team titles, the first coming in 2019 and the second in 2021…Also ran for the Valley Track Club in 2019 and 2021 during their high school career.

Parents are Lori and Matthew Swain…Mother, Lori, swam at Wheaton College in Illinois…Has two siblings, Abi and Eden Swain…Abi also runs for the Portland State cross country and track & field teams…Pronouns: She/They...Decorated student in robotics, having won the Design Award in a VEX Robotics Competition, qualifying her team for the Platinum Division at the VEX Robotics State Competition in 2020 and 2022…Qualified for VEX Nationals in 2020…Earned the Oregon Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish in 2022…Qualified for the Oregon All-State Orchestra in 2020, and was a member of the All-City Honor Group in music…AP Scholar with Honor…Made Honor Roll at their high school every semester…Named the 2020 CTE Professional of the Year by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and The Inspire Foundation…Rotary Student of the Month in Recognition of High Achievement…Lists robotics, environmental sustainability, computer programming, playing the violin and reading as hobbies/interests…Served as the President of the Environmental Club and a Youth Regional Leader of Our Future in high school…Hopes to become an engineer with a focus on environmental sustainability…Plans on majoring in engineering.
