Kevin Jeffers

After spending the 2008 cross country season as an assistant, Kevin Jeffers will oversee the cross country program at Portland State. Jeffers will also serve as an assistant track coach.

In his two year's on the Park Blocks, Jeffers has overseen a total of 28 athletes at the Big Sky Championships heading into the 2010 outdoor season, including Adrienne Wai, who finished fifth in the 800-meters at indoors. At the outdoor championships, he oversaw Katie Blue and she finished seventh in 10,000-meters.

During the 2009 cross country season, Jeffers led the team to NCAA West Regional Championship in Eugene, Ore. There, he led the Vikings top  individual finisher, Andrew Salg to a 114th place finish and both teams finished finished 24th overall.

Jeffers received his bachelor's degree in health education and health promotion from Southern Oregon University in 2008. Prior to that he attended Auburn University and Adams State College for one year each.

While at Southern Oregon, Jeffers was an all-conference selection in cross country and track six times. He was also a three-time all-region selection, and once was named an All-American in the steeplechase. Jeffers was also team captain for three years at SOU.

Jeffers's coaching experience includes the cross country and track programs at McKay High School in Salem, Ore., from 2002-2003, and the Salem Track Club from 2000-2003.

Originally from Salem, Ore., Jeffers is an alumni of McKay High School. He is married to Alicia Jeffers, a former NCAA cross country All-American. The couple resides in the Portland area.
