Katrina Terry joined the Portland State track & field coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach in 2023. In her first year working with the Vikings, Terry helped Gabrielle Bartlett break the school record in the women's outdoor pole vault two different times.
Terry specializes in the pole vault, having won the 2021 Big Sky outdoor title in the event while competing for Eastern Washington. Terry earned All-Big Sky honors in the pole vault three other times while at Eastern Washington, including a pair of second-place finishes at both the conference indoor and outdoor meets as a senior in 2022.
Â
Additionally, Terry qualified for the NCAA West Prelims in the pole vault the last two years of her EWU career. She qualified as a senior behind a personal-best clearance of 13-03.75 (4.06m) at the 2022 Beach Invitational. That mark moved Terry into a tie for sixth all time at Eastern Washington.
Â
Terry has already helped current Viking Gabrielle Bartlett set the school record in the pole vault during the 2023 outdoor season. Bartlett set the record at only her second meet as a Viking, clearing 11-03.75 (3.45m) at the Oregon Preview.
Â
Terry graduated from Eastern Washington in 2022 with a degree in graphic design and experience design. Terry was a six-time Academic All-Big Sky selection while at Eastern Washington.
Â
Outside of track, Terry has taught classes at Pure Barre for four years, as well as gymnastic classes for three years.
