Kalindra McFadden

  • Title
    Volunteer Assistant Track Coach
  • Alma Mater
    Oregon, 2009
Kalindra McFadden was announced as a volunteer assistant coach for the Portland State track team Oct. 11, 2010. McFadden will primarily assist the Vikings with the multi-events. She was hired along with former PSU all-american decathlate Nick Trubachik.

"It's a tremendous opportunity for the student-athletes," laughed Head Coach  Ronnye Harrison, "They bring youthful experience. We (as coaches) know how great they are, but when the athletes know how great they are ... It sets a standard for the program. It sets a standard for the athletes to aspire to – to get to that all-american level."

McFadden comes to the Portland State after a brief stint at her alma mater, Oregon, as a volunteer assistant coach with the multi-events, where she assisted legendary multis coach Harry Marra, a former Team USA staff member. There she helped guide Ashton Eaton to two NCAA Championships and a world record in the heptathlon and Brianne Theisen to a championship in the heptathlon.

As an athlete, McFadden was a two-time all-american for the Ducks and finished sixth in the heptathlon at the 2009 NCAA Championships. She went on to compete the USA Track & Field Championships, finishing fifth and posting a score of 5,821 points, the third-highest in Oregon history. She represented Team USA at the 2009 Thorpe Cup in Marburg, Germany.
