    Volunteer Assistant Coach (Multis)
Three-time Big Sky multi-event champion Donté Robinson joined the Portland State track & field coaching staff as a volunteer assistant before the 2019-20 academic year.

Robinson swept the heptathlon and decathlon titles at the Big Sky indoor and outdoor meets in 2018, and repeated as Big Sky champion in the heptathlon in 2019. Additionally, Robinson placed second in both multi-events as a redshirt sophomore in 2017.

Robinson became only the second Viking to win both heptathlon and decathlon titles in the same year, joining former NCAA first-team All-American Nick Trubachik. Robinson also joined Trubachik as the only two athletes in the history of the Big Sky Conference to repeat as Big Sky champion in the heptathlon.

Robinson won his second straight heptathlon title with 5,394 points, just two off the personal best he set at the UW Invitational earlier in 2019. Robinson's score at the UW Invitational left him just 36 points shy of Trubachik's school record in the event, and Robinson also finished his career second to Tubachik in the decathlon (Trubachik, 7,510 points; Robinson, 7,307 points).

Robinson made marked improvements throughout his Portland State career. Robinson no-heighted in the pole vault in his first attempt in the heptathlon back in 2016, and no-heighted in the overall high jump in his first experience at the Big Sky Indoor Championships later in the year. Robinson nearly quit the team after that season, but instead made improvements over the summer and broke through with a second-place finish in the heptathlon the following year.

Robinson was also a USTFCCCA All-Academic Honoree in 2019, and was named the Big Sky Men's Field Athlete of the Week -- becoming the Viking men's athlete to be so named since 2005 -- following the UW Invitational in 2019. Robinson finished his career ranked second all time in the heptathlon and decathlon at Portland State, while he also ended his career ranked in the top 10 in 10 more events. Outside of the multi-events, Robinson also finished ranked in the indoor pole vault, indoor high jump, indoor 60-meter hurdles, indoor long jump, outdoor pole vault, javelin, outdoor high jump, outdoor long jump, outdoor 4x400-meter relay and outdoor 110-meter hurdles.
